Diamond Certification

What's in a Certificate?

A certificate is a blueprint of a loose diamond. Wholesalers, retailers, and consumers alike know a certificate as either a diamond grading report or diamond dossier. A certificate will tell a diamond's exact measurements, weight, cut and overall quality.
A certificate will precisely point out a diamond’s individual characteristics as well as be a useful tool when identifying a stone. When shopping for a loose diamond, considering stones that have a grading report will allow you to make an informed decision on which diamond will be ideal for you.

Jewelry Depot Houston Certified Diamonds

Every loose diamond sold by Jewelry Depot Houston has been analyzed and graded by either the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or the American Gem Society Laboratories (AGSL). These two laboratories are among the most respected laboratories in the diamond industry, and are known for their consistency and unbiased diamond grading systems. Diamonds that are accompanied by these grading reports are the most highly valued in the industry.

In addition to being graded by either the GIA or the AGSL, all Jewelry Depot Houston d diamonds are certified by GCAL. This additional certification provides a second independent and authoritative analysis of your diamond.

If you are interested in a specific certified diamond at Jewelry Depot Houston, you can view its certificate on our site before purchase. Jewelry Depot Houston offers variety of grading reports and documentation:

GIA Diamond Grading Report

A Diamond Grading Report documents the specific characteristics of a diamond. These reports are issued by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), which is among the most respected organizations in the diamond industry.

The GIA set the standard for diamond grading and gemological identification, and their grading system serves as the international gem and jewelry industry's benchmark credentials.

GIA Diamond Dossier®

A Diamond Dossier®, issued by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), presents a report of the characteristics of your diamond that is signed by the most respected experts in the industry. The Diamond Dossier is a special report issued for diamonds weighing less than 1 carat.

AGSL Diamond Quality Document

A Diamond Quality Document, issued by the American Gem Society Laboratories (AGSL), is universally accepted and respected by the jewelry industry as a document of authenticated quality.

The AGSL uses a diamond grading system that ranks cut, color, and clarity on a zero to ten scale, with zero signifying the rarest and most desirable and ten indicating the least desirable.

GCAL Certificate of Diamond Authenticity

A Certificate of Authenticity, issued by the Gem Certification & Assurance Lab (GCAL), serves as verification of your diamond's quality.

GCAL warrants that each diamond meets the grades and measurements noted in the GIA or AGSL grading report, within recognized gemological tolerances.
